ECOMMERCE

Build ecommerce experiences that connect strategy, technology and growth

An ecommerce store is a chain of decisions: discovery, product understanding, trust, selection, cart, checkout, payment, fulfilment communication, retention and measurement. Improving one button without understanding the rest of that chain often moves the problem rather than solving it.

Fusion Works works across ecommerce strategy, customer experience, technology and the systems around the storefront so development, CRO, analytics, CRM, automation and growth support the same customer journey.

Strategy→Experience→Technology→Conversion→Data→Automation→Growth
DIAGNOSE THE JOURNEY

Ecommerce problems are rarely just design problems

Low conversion can come from poor product discovery, unclear variants, weak trust signals, mobile friction, confusing delivery information, app conflicts, checkout expectations, broken tracking or a mismatch between the traffic source and product proposition. A better-looking theme cannot fix every one of those problems.

We start by identifying where the journey is losing clarity or confidence, then decide what needs design, development, content, measurement or operational change.

CONNECTED CAPABILITIES

Ecommerce capabilities

01

Ecommerce strategy & roadmap

Align ecommerce priorities across customer journey, commercial goals, technology, operations, measurement and growth so implementation starts with the right problem.

02

Ecommerce builds and redesigns

New ecommerce storefronts and redesigns with scalable merchandising structures, maintainable implementation and the operating needs of the team considered from the start. Platform-specific implementation, including Shopify where appropriate, should follow the business requirement.

03

Collection and product experience

Improve how shoppers browse, filter, compare and understand products, variants, pricing, offers, delivery, returns and other decision-support information.

04

Mobile commerce UX

Prioritise the smaller-screen journey where navigation, product cards, sticky actions, modal behaviour, cart feedback and content density can directly change usability.

05

Checkout and conversion journeys

Review the steps from product decision to completed order, including cart feedback, payment expectations, shipping communication and avoidable friction before checkout.

06

Analytics and attribution

Connect ecommerce events, campaigns and customer actions through GA4/GTM and the relevant downstream systems so optimisation is based on evidence rather than assumptions.

07

CRM, WhatsApp and lifecycle automation

Connect lead or customer capture with WhatsApp, email, CRM and lifecycle workflows where those systems genuinely improve service, recovery or retention.

08

Performance and app-stack audits

Review installed apps, script weight, duplicated functionality and theme customisations that can add cost or slow the storefront without contributing enough value.

CONNECTED COMMERCE

Our commerce approach

We evaluate the journey as a system: how customers arrive, how they discover products, what information helps them decide, where trust is built, what happens in cart and checkout, what we can measure and how the relationship continues after purchase.

That creates a better prioritisation list than copying isolated CRO patterns from another store.

CONVERSION SYSTEM

CRO is a system, not a button change

Conversion-rate optimisation is the practice of reducing uncertainty and friction across the customer journey while measuring whether the changes help the intended outcome. A sticky add-to-cart button may help on one store and do little on another if sizing, delivery, trust or product understanding is the real barrier.

We prefer hypotheses tied to observed friction and measurable behaviour. That makes the next test explainable even when the first change does not produce the expected result.

TECHNOLOGY DECISIONS

Ecommerce technology and integrations

Ecommerce technology should follow the requirement. Existing platform capabilities, apps, integrations and custom development each have a place. We compare the options against customer experience, maintainability, performance, ownership, recurring cost, operational fit and the likelihood that the requirement will change. We choose the implementation approach around the business requirement, existing technology, customer journey and operating needs. Where Shopify is the right fit, we work within its native capabilities, ecosystem and customisation options rather than adding complexity by default.

01

Platform capability

Use existing platform capability when it meets the requirement cleanly, keeps ownership simple and avoids unnecessary dependencies.

02

App or integration

Use a mature app or integration when it solves a defined requirement efficiently and its recurring cost, performance impact and data model are acceptable.

03

Custom development

Use custom development when the requirement is specific enough that an existing option creates unnecessary limitations or complexity and the resulting solution can remain maintainable.

DISCOVERY BEYOND THE STOREFRONT

Commerce also depends on how products are found

Storefront improvements work best when the wider acquisition and discovery system is understood. Where relevant, we connect ecommerce work with SEO, AEO & AI Visibility so product and category experiences are not treated separately from how customers discover them.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Common ecommerce questions

Practical decisions across strategy, experience, technology and ongoing optimisation.

01Do you build new ecommerce stores or improve existing ones?

Do you build new ecommerce stores or improve existing ones?

Both. A new build makes sense when the storefront or underlying structure needs fundamental change. Existing ecommerce businesses often benefit more from targeted strategy, UX, performance, merchandising, CRO, analytics, CRM or automation improvements than a full replacement.

02How do you approach ecommerce CRO?

How do you approach ecommerce CRO?

We start with the journey and available evidence, identify the most important friction, form a clear hypothesis, implement a controlled change where possible and measure what happens. We do not treat generic “best practices” as guaranteed conversion improvements.

03How do you decide which ecommerce technology or implementation approach is right?

How do you decide which ecommerce technology or implementation approach is right?

We compare the business requirement, customer journey, existing technology, implementation effort, recurring cost, performance, data ownership, maintainability and the flexibility genuinely required. A platform, app, integration or custom build is a means to an outcome, not the starting point.

NEXT STEP

Build an ecommerce system that can keep improving

Your store should make products easier to discover and buy while giving the team clean enough data to understand what needs improvement next. We can help connect those pieces.
